Moorpark, Calif. (April 24, 2020) –Moorpark CollegeNursing Science programfaculty members diligentlyprepare their graduates to enter the challenging and rewarding field of nursing. As proof of the students’ preparedness, the Fall 2019 class had a 100 percentpass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) exam.Thenationalaverage pass rate for first time test-takers is 83.5 percent.

“We are incredibly proud of our students,” saidInterim President Julius Sokenu. “Nursing isever-present in the news right now with COVID-19,and it’s fulfilling to know thatour graduateswillcontinuetoprovide high-quality care evenafter the pandemic is over.”

A total of 36 students from the Fall 2019 class sat for the exam, and all were first-time test takers.TheMoorpark College Nursing Scienceprogram pass rate has been above 90 percent every year since the 2014-2015 school year. For 2018-2019,the program reporteda 95 percent pass rate.

“Our nursing program faculty has consistently provided our students with the latest nursing best practices,” said Board Chair Bernardo M. Perez. “Our nursing students are heroes in the making!”

This comprehensive NCLEX exam touches onmanynursing concepts and is only open tostudentswhohave completedan approved nursing program.The test focuses on four categories: safe and effective care environment,health promotion and maintenance,psychosocial integrityandphysiological integrity.
